Transportation is available to downtown Chicago using the Metro Train system - Blue Line from ORD and Orange Line from MDW. The one trip tickets are $3.00 (Sept 2016) or $10 for an all day card if you are going to be using multiple train trips during the day.
Alternatively, Shuttle Service is available from either airport.
Cruise Planners offers transportation options from either airport through ARC Market Place - find the link on our website. Sedan, SUV and LIMO options are available from or to either airport. As an example of cost - Sedan transfers from either airport to/from downtown is $64.99.
The difference between riding the "L" and riding in the back of a personal sedan or SUV is SIGNIFICANT. The cars pick up at the arrival terminal, and drop you off at your destination door....no train hops, changes or stops along the way.
If you value your time on travel - the ARC Marketplace transfers are efficient and economical.
